Free Municipal Transport in Argostoli Enhancing Daily Mobility for Residents and Visitors

The Municipal Transport service in Argostoli has already been back in operation for several months, as part of a broader effort to upgrade mobility services and improve the daily life of both residents and visitors, through the collaboration between the Municipality of Argostoli and KTEL Kefalonia.

The reintroduction of the service has already begun to yield tangible results, facilitating daily transportation, supporting the local economy, and enhancing the city’s overall accessibility and appeal.

The route covers a total distance of 6 kilometers, starting from the Bus station (starting point), and passing through Antoni Tritsi Avenue, Ioannou Metaxa Street, Gerasimou Foka Street, Εrithrou Stavrou Street, Panagi Charokopou Street, Kalypso Vergoti Street, Georgiou Vergoti Street, the Chamber of Commerce area (EBEKI), outside the bus station, and returning via Antoni Tritsi Avenue (Indoor Gymnasium “Antonis Tritsis”) back to the original starting point.

The service operates six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, between 07:30 and 15:30, with two routes per hour. Transportation is provided free of charge for all passengers.

Departure times from the starting point (KTEL) are as follows:
07:30, 08:00, 08:30, 09:00, 09:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00, 14:30, and 15:00.

Municipal Transport stops include:
KTEL (Starting Point), Market (“Old KTEL”), Nursing Home, Ferry Port (Lixouri route), Swimming Pool, Charokopou (in front of the 4th Primary School), Napier, OTE, Metropolitan Church, IKA, Church of Saint Nikolaos, Municipal Nursing Home of Argostoli, Indoor Gymnasium “Antonis Tritsis”, and KTEL (Terminal).

The operation of the Municipal Transport service marks an important step towards a more accessible, sustainable, and user-friendly urban environment, benefiting both residents and visitors.

The Mayor of Argostoli, Theofilos Michalatos, has emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving everyday life, with a focus on functionality and high-quality public services.
