The Municipality of Lixouri, with particular satisfaction, announces the absolute success of the free sterilization program for stray dogs and cats, which took place on the weekend of November 29 and 30. This action is the fruit of the cooperation of the Municipality, and the competent Deputy Mayor Mr. Galatis Angelos, with the Voluntary Action of Veterinarians of Greece (EDKE).

The turnout of citizens was particularly massive, a fact that demonstrates the increasing awareness of the local society regarding issues of animal welfare. The active participation and interest of the residents underline the necessity and utility of such initiatives. The support offered by the public, through their presence to reinforce the effort and the sterilization of the animals, fills us with satisfaction and strengthens our commitment to the continuation of corresponding actions in the future.

We wish to express our deepest thanks to the Voluntary Action of Veterinarians of Greece (EDKE) and the Mission Leader, Mr. Antonis Lionakis. EDKE, through its specialized and dedicated team, offered invaluable veterinary services, demonstrating excellent organization and deep professional training. The behavior of EDKE members towards the stray animals during the two days was exemplary, radiating respect and professionalism.

Special mention and thanks are addressed to our volunteers: Alpo and Seija Seppanen, as well as Ms. Romina. These three "guardian angels" offered selfless care, dedication, and patience to the strays, especially the small animals, throughout the duration of the action. Their personal contribution constituted a cornerstone for the success of the program, adding a distinct humanity to the initiative.

Congratulations are also due to the Municipality executives who attended and actively supported the program.

Specifically, we thank the Deputy Mayor of Volunteerism, Ms. Dina Kaminari, the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Ms. Eleni Loukeri, the President of the Municipal Council, Mr. Antonis Parisis, the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Hectoras Antonatos, and the Opposition Municipal Councilor, Mr. Aravantinos Dionysis. Their presence and practical interest during the two days highlighted the importance of the action and reinforced the message in favor of animal protection.

Finally, we owe a big thank you to our valuable supporters: Levante Ferries and the company Mercury Car Hire. Their substantial contribution was decisive for the smooth implementation of the program, allowing for the coverage of necessary resources.

As a Municipal Authority, we commit to the continuation of corresponding programs, the promotion of sterilization as a basic tool for population management, the continuous information and sensitization of citizens, and close cooperation with every body that wishes to contribute to animal welfare, utilizing all available possibilities and resources.

We continue with determination and effort to overcome any problems, aiming for the continuous information of citizens on how we must coexist with animals.
