When Greece was introducing itself to the world: A nostalgic journey with the posters of the Greek Tourism Organization

"Greece to the world – The eternal light": A unique journey through time through the historic posters of the EOT in Argostoli
A rare and precious journey into the history of the Greek tourist identity is hosted from August 25 to 31, 2025, at the Chamber of Kefalonia and Ithaca. The exhibition, titled "Greece to the world – The eternal light," presents authentic tourist posters of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), covering a period of eighty years, from 1929 to 2009.
The exhibition, which is part of the renowned KYMATA Festival 2025, is held in collaboration with the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Argostoli and the Chamber of Kefalonia & Ithaca, highlighting the fertile union of culture with tourism development.
More than 70 authentic posters, originating from the valuable private collection of Mr. Lefteris Lambrakis, compose a unique panorama of the aesthetics and strategic promotion of Greece throughout the decades. Visitors have the opportunity to follow the evolution of the country's image, from the elegant art deco creations of the interwar period, the optimistic post-war period, to the pop aesthetic of the '70s and '80s and the more contemporary approaches of the 21st century.
Each poster constitutes a unique visual document, an artistic work that captures how Greece chose to present to the world its greatest asset: the eternal light, the unparalleled nature, the rich cultural heritage, and its warm hospitality. Works by leading Greek artists, such as Nelly's (Elli Seraidari), Yannis Moralis, and Spyros Vassiliou, among others, narrate a story and invite the public on a nostalgic and at the same time enlightening journey.
The exhibition is an attraction for both the residents and visitors of the island, offering a high-quality cultural experience.
