"ELIOS - PRONOI POROS, ASPROGERAKAS 21:00. In the courtyard of the pre-earthquake school of Asprogerakas, and following last year's event, there will be a presentation of a digital representation of the village of Kornelo as it was 'A Day Before the Earthquake.' The presentation will include references to the families of the village and representative stories of everyday life as preserved by the last elderly inhabitants. Additionally, family trees of the area's families (as far back as we could reach) will be displayed to assist mainly the young diaspora who, during their short holiday breaks, seek their roots.

The event will conclude with a song accompanied by piano by the composer and maestro Ms. Eleftheria Metaxa Armadou. Co-organized by the Cultural Association 'O Pronisos' and the Municipality of Argostoli."

AUGUST 2ND 

-ARGOSTOLI, Municipal Theater "O KEFALOS," time: 21:00. Presentation and free distribution of the Commemorative Volume "450 Years from the Battle of Nafpaktos - Hellenism and Europe." Screening of the film-dramatized documentary by Cosmote History, "The Battle of Nafpaktos," directed by Alexandros Chatzis and written by Dimitris Demesoukas. The main speaker will be the academic Mr. Anastasios Germinis.

Participating three bouzouki players from the musical ensemble "The Next," singers Christina Michalaki, Babis Velissarios, and Melissanthi Markantontatou, along with the composer's folk orchestra. Composer and bouzouki solist Thanasis Polykandriotis, along with his collaborators, present an experiential performance. An experience of 60 years, which the composer shares through a carefully selected repertoire. Free entrance.

ARGOSTOLI, Xenia Courtyard, time: 9:00 PM. Theatrical Performance "FROM THE YEARS OF THE EARTHQUAKE." 70 years since the catastrophic earthquake of 1953. The play is based on original material of oral narratives related to the 1953 earthquake, the desertification of Kefalonia over these 70 years, and the abandonment of the countryside, revealing the vulnerability of the local economy and society in facing such a major disaster. How can a community stand in solidarity and plan for the next day?

ARGOSTOLI, Municipal Theatre "O KEFALOS," Antiohos and Spyros Evaggelatos Hall. Exhibition "Dionysios Solomos... two flames... Manolis Haros." Organized by the Ionian Academy 1808, Municipality of Argostoli. Duration: August 19-25, 2023. Opening hours: 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM.   The Ionian Academy 1808 presents the exhibition "Dionysios Solomos... two flames... Manolis Haros" in Kefalonia. The distinguished artist Manolis Haros, a member of the Ionian Academy 1808, draws inspiration from Solomos's "Dialogue," the emblematic treatise on the Greek language and its relationship with the people. With his explosive palette, he creates images ablaze with the Two Flames of the national poet: that of the mind and that of the heart. The exhibition was previously presented at the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, with artistic curation by Maria Georgopoulou, Director of the Library, and philological curation by Simos Zenios, Deputy Director at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for the Study of Hellenic Culture at the University of California, Los Angeles, under the auspices of the Ionian Academy 1808. After Kefalonia, the exhibition, with the continuous support of the Ionian Academy 1808, will travel to Corfu and then to Zakynthos and Kythira.

OMALA, FRAGATA ROBOLA FESTIVAL IN FRAGATA, time: 8:30 PM. The organization of the first Robola festival in 1978 by Mermigas aimed to promote the local grape variety "Robola." From 1978 until today, the Robola festival in Fragata is consistently organized on the first weekend after August 15th. Visitors have the opportunity to taste local delicacies, abundant wine (free of charge), experience traditional local dances performed by the groups of Mermigas, and enjoy genuine Kefalonian spirit. An event presenting the work of the association's departments, with historical references to Kefalonian history, and a performance by the dance group "Kantrilies." 26/8 ARGOSTOLI, THALASSOMYLOS. DIONYSIS FARMAKIS & GIANNIS AGGELAKAS. Dionysis Farmakis has released 4 albums and 2 singles, collaborating with artists such as Sarantis Alivizatos, Active Member, Michalis Kakepis, Litis, Laza, Stelios Salvador. Giannis Aggelakas' performances with the 100°C resemble more of a celebration than a concert. They are all creative, disruptive, and mainly restless, taking us on a journey that starts from "Trypes" and has its latest stop at the album "Eho Kefia" released in 2022. The 100°C consists of: Lambrini Grigoriadou, Alexis Archontis, Giorgos Avramidis, Elias Baglanis, Alexandros Kontzoglou, and Michalis Karanikos. • ARGOSTOLI, KIPOS NAPIER, time: 20.30. A beautiful poetry evening with the theme: "LOVE POETRY OF KEFALONIA." Poems by poets and poetesses, as well as Rimes, will be recited, with their contemporary projection on screen. The event will be accompanied by the excellent pianist/singer SOFIA MICHAELIDI. • LEIVATHOS, SPARTIA at the Plakostroto of Agios Gerasimos. Time: 20.00. 3rd Exhibition of Visual Art Creations by Kefalonian Artists in Spartia, on the road with the ruins of the pre-earthquake village. Co-organized by the Municipality of Argostoli and the Cultural Society "To Sparto."
• ELEIOS PRONNOI, SKALA, Concert in the church courtyard. Start time: 21:30. The troubadours of Kefalonia, brothers Spyros & Makis Karaviotis, and Angelos Andreatos with their guitars, will present a magnificent concert dedicated to songs by Ionian composers to the music-loving audience of Skala and the island's visitors. A unique musical collaboration of three guitars and three voices, interpreting creations from their personal discography as well as beloved songs by popular Ionian composers such as Spyros Markatos, Dimitris Lagios, Giorgos Katsaros, as well as lyricists-poets like Andreas Laskaratos, Sarantis Alivizatos, and Michalis Bourboulis, offering the audience a unique experience of musical listening. Organized by the Municipality of Argostoli and the Municipality of Skala.

August 27 - September 3, 

Argostoli, Thalassomilos. 2nd International Film Festival "Waves 2023." The Festival includes tributes to directors from Greece and abroad, with the presence of the filmmakers themselves and the contributors to these films. Various educational seminars by renowned Greek directors and cartoonists (Fiction - Documentary - Cartoon) are also scheduled, as well as music concerts throughout the Festival's duration. Simultaneously, an exhibition of cartoons titled "Waves" will take place at the Festival, organized by the Cartoonists Association with the simultaneous presence of three of its members, along with other events. In addition to the guests, journalists from Greece and abroad will also be accommodated at the Festival. Co-organized by the Cultural & Environmental Association of Kefalonia, P.I.N.-Regional Unit of Kefalonia, and the Municipality of Argostoli.

Argostoli, Xenia Courtyard, time: 20:30. Children's Theater "The Lying Shepherd." • Troianata, Agia Paraskevi, Xerizomeno, time: 20:00. Grape Harvest and Must Festival. Celebration in the village of Troianata with festive, folkloric, and cultural interest. There will be a representation of grape harvesting, grape pressing, must processing into wine, and the preparation of "mustalevria," a traditional sweet made from the processed must. Traditional Kefalonian dances will entertain the audience, and at the end, the prepared mustalevria will be shared with the members of the association. Organized by the Cultural Shelter of Troianata.

The newly formed traditional Choir of the Association will participate, along with a group of dancers, presenting traditional folk songs forgotten through time and beyond!
